Obituary for Anthony Tkachenko

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the untimely death of Anthony Tkachenko, a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend who passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 at the age of 22.

Born on August 22, 1998, in London, England to his parents Alexander and Irene, Anthony was a bright, articulate and social young man with a congenial personality. His smile lit up a room.

Anthony was a competitive swimmer and avid football player, as well as a voracious reader. He loved playing guitar and spending time with his friends, especially his lifelong best friends Kevin Lee and Curtis Phan. He had a unique sense of humour, could come up with answers to any questions, was unbeatable at card games and read legal court cases for fun.

Anthony attended a program for gifted students during his grade school years and was looking forward to completing his final semester of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, getting his degree and proudly becoming the third engineer in his family.

He had successful co-op work terms at Concrete Elegance, Dahl Valve, ETM Industries, PCC Aerostructures and two terms at McLaren Engineering, where he worked on automotive differential transmissions.

Anthony is survived by his parents, Alexander and Irene, half-brother Art, grandmother Raya, and his beloved cat Tony.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only a small private service will occur at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine on Sunday, May 9, 2021, for his family and friends to say Goodbye to Anthony.

Instead of flowers, Anthony’s family is encouraging donations to a Memorial Fund in his name at the University of Waterloo, or alternatively to the Mississauga Aquatic Club or the Kincardine Davidson Centre.
