Lori, Alex, Natasha, Nicholas, Frauke, Ulrike, Wiebke, Johannes and the entire Prehnbrook Farms family. My sincerest sympathies to all at this heartbreaking time! I am going to share my favourite memory of Jan. On the first school day in Canada, I met my new friends (Jan, Ulrike and Wiebke) on the school bus. I was to take them to the school office once we got to the "huge" Ripley High School. Being in the 7th grade and therefore the youngest at the High School, there was an unwritten rule that we young ones couldn't/shouldn't go through the smoking area (that area was for the older cool crowd), so of course I took my 3 new friends the loonnggg way around to the back of the school and then walked down the hall right past the smoking area where the bus let us off and then up to the school office. As we walked by the smoking area door, I did not miss seeing Jan roll his eyes and shake his head. Years later, over a couple of beers I laughingly told him I seen him roll his eyes and shake his head that first day and his response was...."well, seriously?". To this day, over 40 years later, that memory still makes me smile. I hope this memory made you smile. Hugs to all! Linda Temple (Roe)
